Just learned that CBS' long-running soap, As The World Turns, has been cancelled. Last episode airs September 2010.More details on Daytime Confidential.
It's been on the air 54 years... another of my grandma memories gone away. And I'm a soap fan... sad to see the genre is slowly fading from pop culture.

after Guiding Light, I'm not surprised, but it still hurts since I started watching when Luke was coming out the closet.
And when I read on Daytime Confidential(thank you for introducing me to that!) that it was canceled, I shook my head and was like this is truly the end of the genre, and if they take OLTL off I will be DONE!
